Benefits of 240 GSM French Terry
240 GSM (Grams per Square Meter) indicates a mid-weight fabric. It strikes a perfect balance—heavier and more durable than a standard t-shirt (which is usually 140–180 GSM), but lighter and more breathable than heavy winter fleece (which often exceeds 300 GSM).
French Terry features a smooth, clean texture on the outside and soft, tiny loops of yarn on the inside. This specific weight offers several key benefits:
All-Season Versatility: It provides just enough warmth for cool evening breezes or air-conditioned rooms, yet remains light enough to wear comfortably during warmer spring and autumn days.
Excellent Breathability: The looped interior construction naturally circulates air and absorbs moisture, keeping you dry and preventing that sticky, overheated feeling.
Premium Structure: At 240 GSM, the fabric has enough body to hold its shape beautifully. It offers a clean, high-quality drape that elevates streetwear designs like oversized tees, light hoodies, and loungewear.
High Durability: The tightly knitted face resists pilling and easily withstands regular wear and tear, maintaining its premium look over time.
Natural Stretch: Because it is a knit fabric, it moves flexibly with your body without requiring high percentages of synthetic spandex.
Washing & Care Instructions
To maintain the soft texture, rich color, and tailored shape of your 240 GSM French Terry garments, use the following care routine:
1. Washing
Turn Inside Out: Always flip the garment inside out before washing. This protects the smooth outer face from friction damage and prevents pilling.
Use Cold Water: Wash on a gentle cycle using cold water (30°C / 85°F or below). Hot water shrinks the natural cotton fibers and fades dark graphics.
Select Mild Detergents: Opt for a gentle, liquid detergent. Avoid harsh bleaches or strong fabric softeners, as they can coat the interior loops and reduce the fabric's natural absorbency.
Wash with Similar Weights: Avoid washing light t-shirts alongside heavy, coarse items like jeans or garments with exposed zippers, which can snag the delicate inner loops.
2. Drying
Air Dry (Highly Recommended): Lay the garment flat on a drying rack or hang it up out of direct sunlight. Air drying prevents shrinkage and preserves the life of any screen-printed graphics.
Tumble Dry with Caution: If you must use a dryer, select the low heat or delicate cycle. Remove the garment while it is still slightly damp to prevent over-drying and structural warping.
3. Ironing & Storage
Iron Low and Inside Out: If wrinkling occurs, use a low-to-medium heat setting on your iron. Never iron directly over graphic prints; always iron the garment inside out or place a thin pressing cloth over the design.
Fold, Don't Hang: While mid-weight, French Terry can still stretch out at the shoulders over time if left on thin hangers. Fold your garments neatly and store them in a drawer or on a shelf to preserve their shape.
